In 1970, three Tulsa insurance agents joined together to purchase the Bob Singleton Insurance Agency in Broken Arrow. The agency had been in existence since before statehood with different owners over those years.
One of the three new partners was Bruce Schutte. He had started his career with an insurance company after college and had met the other two agents during that time. They wanted Bruce to take charge of operations management and changed the agency’s name to the Broken Arrow Insurance Agency, Inc.
Broken Arrow was a boom town during the 70’s and 80’s. Bruce and his staff grew the business, as they provided quality services to individuals and businesses alike. In 1977, Bruce hired another agent, Jim Beavers to assist in the continued growth. They both became even more involved in community organizations such as the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce, Broken Arrow Public Schools Foundation, Rotary Club, Broken Arrow Community Foundation and many others. They served on numerous committees, assisting with large projects such as bringing the campus of Northeastern State University and the Creek Turnpike here. In 1995, they adopted the trade name The Arrow Group and it was been known as such ever since.
Ron Carter joined the firm and was later followed by Terry Cupp. These additions brought in even more clients which in turn increased staffing needs. The agency out grew its location on Main Street and moved to an office park setting, though still in Broken Arrow. In time, Bruce and Ron both retired and eventually Terry Cupp purchased Jim Beavers’ remaining ownership in the agency. This had always been his long term goal and he remains focused on continued growth and development within the agency while providing the highest service level to our clients.
In the early 90’s, Bruce Schutte and Jim Beavers formed an insurance and risk management marketing group based in Tulsa OK. Its purpose was to enhance relationships with insurers, provide more options to clients, and increase risk management offerings. That entity, BAINSWEST INC., has now grown to encompass more than 20 member agencies from several mid-south states. BAINSWEST has been included in the top 20 agency partnerships ranked by total property and casualty revenue by Insurance Journal for several years and this volume allows us even more access to insurance programs and services for our clients.
